Reverend Gregory R. Long
Reverend Gregory R. Long is the Pastor of North 17th Street Church of God. He has served as Pastor for 5 years and 2 years as Interim Pastor. He has been in good standing for over 23 years. He served collectively with the previous Senior Pastor in the leadership and support of the evangelism. His duties were preaching, teaching, counseling, performing wedding and funerals. He provides pastoral care ministry to families, children, youth, individuals and those incarcerated.
Rev. Gregory R. Long graduated from Central Dauphin East High School in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He successfully continued his education in DuPont School of Safety in Delaware. He then moved on to Behavioral Based Safety Training in Arizona and Louisiana. He is currently employed at ArjoHuntleigh as a Service Consultant.
He received a Christian Diploma from Anderson University School of Theology and a Diploma in Christian Studies from Church Leadership Institute of Greater Zion Baptist.
He is a self-starter who enjoys a wide range of responsibilities. Most importantly, he is a man of God who has ordered his life in compliance with the teaching of the Scriptures and the example of the Lord. His many years of demonstrated loyalty to the Pastorial Care Ministry, on-going quality enhanced training and continued education has strengthen his leadership, team-building skills and his competency to counsel by utilizing the principles in God’s Word. His pleasant and cheerful manner plus his personality, makes it easy for a person to confide and trust that he is a Man of God. He is a good leader and coordinator for children and youth. He works well with them with genuine care and concern. He is a good listener and thinks before he speaks. He has a good heart and is always willing to help of find a solution to any problems, cares, or concerns. He is trust worthy and loyal to all.
Under his leadership, he visits nursing homes and the shut-ins for pastoral care. He is a worship leader at the Bethesda Mission in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania preaching the Word of God and teaming up with local Ministers to provide spiritual guidance to the residents. He mentors men who have been incarcerated and are living in halfway houses or mission programs. He is a great Inspirational Leader and a member of the Men’s Ministry. He has previously served on the Men’s Choir at North 17 th Street Church of God.
He is married to his beautiful wife, Drusilla T. Long. He has 6 children and 13 grandchildren.
